1000DEAD - Same - METAL SCRAP RECORDS
1000Dead or Thousanddead is a young Greek trio consisting of Nikos Marinakis (guitars and vocals), Petros Leledakis (bass) and Alekos Mouratidis on drums. This self-titled album is the band's debut and is 11 songs long. The band plays an angry somewhat punk-ish style of music, the 11 songs total under 38 minutes. Nikos belts out aggressive screams and the music and rhythm hum along at slow to faster pace. Post-War Blues for examples ups the tempo while the two songs before it move at marginally lower pace. The so-called groove and mallcore touches appear too. Songs like Bring A Knife To A Gunfight (what?) travel between faster and low key moments but Nikos' voice remains a constant, almost. Noise/Pain is a shorter faster song. This Day We Fight showcases the aggressiveness that is again best illustrated in the vocals. Unplug Me is at times true to its title but not throughout, it is not far from a System Of A Down experience. The Oppressor Syndrome features some heavy riffing and speedy aggression. Stonework is enjoyable and mixes speed and heaviness well for the most part. Cross Section is a 28 second punk/thrash short interlude which jumps into the closer, Dignity... a Dying Word. The last song sounds even angrier than the rest. – Anna Tergel
