History & Biography
The black metal group Aara was founded in 2018. The group had its So Fallen Alle Tempel album issued through a Finnish imprint. Debemur Morti Productions issued the masked men’s single in 2019. This signalled collaboration that lead to a full-length in 2020. En Ergô Einaiwas a concept album regarding philosophy and humanism. Jöschu was on drums then. Jöschu also started his campaign to put food on the table by being in a dozen projects including in Taubra (another masked act) with Berg. Eos was the first album of a trilogy based on the Melmoth The Wanderer by Charles Maturin. The 19th century novel narrates the story of the titular character who has sold his soul to the devil in order to live longer. There was a two-song EP called Phthonos in 2022. With the trilogy's conclusion, the band completed an album for 2024 and was working on a concept record for 2025.

The band’s monicker is conceived to mean ‘the river as an altar’ and is inspired by the Swiss river Aare.
