History & Biography Abortus was formed in New South Wales in 1993 and pursued the death metal style. A split release with Gut preceded a break before 1998’s Demo I and Demo II. The group issued a demo disc in 1999 with Matt Herd on drums. Having replaced the drummer the grouped issued its sole album in 2001 and disappeared into something called Herratik in 2004. Process Of Elimination was recorded at Velvet Sound Studio and engineered by Adrian Grigorieff. The group toured Europe in December of 2001 as openers for Ancient Rites and Mystic Circle. The latter band came to Australia for a tour with the band in 2002. The group also toured with openers Dark Order in its own country. Herratik would use Mystic Circle’s drummer later on.
The band’s name was taken from a cattle bacterium.
