History & Biography
The band was founded by Hannes Grossmann after parting ways with Obscura in 2013. H. P. Lovecraft was cited as an inspiration. Quickly in the project was Florian Magnus Maier. Guitarists Christian Münzner (formerly of Obscura who returned to that band) and Danny Tunker (roadie for Obscura) and bassist Linus Klausenitzer joined in 2014. The Malkuth Grimoire was released in 2015 and re-issued by Season Of Mist in 2018. This album was recorded with the help of crowdfunding. Tunker left in 2021.

Alkaloid had an album called Numen through Season Of Mist in 2023. The project had members from Obscura, Dark Fortress, Triptykon and other bands. Christian Münzner left in 2024. Live guitarist Max Blok also joined Pestilence.

Alkaloid is part-time pastime with each member in a baker’s dozen of other projects.
