Reviews ALLEGIANCE - HYMN TILL HANGAGUD - NO FASHION
Most of us know that No Fashion has turned into Fashionable Records releasing similar albums day in and day out. You know the type: fast and furious, yet melodic and often harmonic; A couple of Iron Maiden influences mixed with second rate Dissection riffs, potentially a couple of lyrics in Swedish, and as a bonus a display of Swedish nationalism won't hurt the sales either. Allegiance (the Swedish version that is) is all this. Still, be that as it may, the quartet is not to be criticized for lack of power in the music. The speed and heaviness embedded in the eight titles is head and shoulders above the competition and the band for the most part keeps its blood pure by staying away from the K&F (Keyboard and Female vocals) plague. The sound is right on the money, fortunate in extracting a higher than average sound out of Dan Swano's Unisound Studio. Rumour has it that during the recording sessions, police acting on a neighbour’s complaint that someone was being tortured on the premises raided the building. True or not, Allegiance destroys and pummels as metal always should and seeing that they blew the cobwebs off my speakers, I grant them two devil's horns up. Some truly great riffs here. - Ali "The Metallian"
