History & Biography
Amaran is perhaps more of a rock band with female vocals than a metal act, but the band signed with France's Listenable in 2001 and released its debut there the year after.

The band was formed in 2000 by guitarists Backlund and Kainulainen who were soon to be joined by Andersson who had played with Kari a decade before in a cover band. He would become a female and change names to Emma Andersson. A four-song demo was recorded when a suitable singer was found, following which a drummer was introduced to the band. The band's first show was in support of The Storyteller.

The debut was recorded in Denmark with Jacob Hansen producing at Studio Aabenraa. The band was supposed to open for Tristania across Europe, but the tour was cancelled by the headliners. Johanna DePierre had left the act.

The band called it a day in September 2005. Various members undertook different projects. In Her Wake was a professional reunion of two members as of 2019.
