History & Biography
Amboy Dukes was the band of US right wing gun lover Ted Nugent. The band was active between 1965 and 1975. There were too many line-up changes to name. Nugent first formed the band in Chicago where he lived, borrowing the name from a Michigan band who in turn had borrowed it from a novel. He later reformed the band upon moving to Michigan.

Amboy Dukes was known for its sharp guitar licks. The band was at times known as Ted Nugent's Amboy Dukes and American Amboy Dukes. Journey To The Center Of The Mind, off the debut, was the band's best-known number.

Amboy Dukes, including proud animal killer Ted Nugent, were to reunite for the first time in more than 30 years on April 17th and 18th, 2009 for the annual Detroit Music Awards where the band was being presented the distinguished achievement award.
