History & Biography
Heavy and power metal band Aneuma was founded in Puerto De Vega, Spain in 2020. Members came from groups like Escuela De Odio, Sound Of Silence, Legacy Of Brutality, Cathexia and Crummer. The act betrayed an Arch Enemy influence. The Climax demo was issued in 2022. There was a video for the song Fall Apart. The cover depicted Laura naked. The group won the Wacken Metal Battle Spain, thus securing its spot at the Wacken Open Air 2023. Venom was the 2024 demo and was supported through the Yell To The Sky video. The band was booked for Resurrection Fest, Luarca Metal Days and Arcanxo Festival in Spain in 2024.

Flesh And Bone was the band's album and slated through Art Gates for April 11, 2025. The video for the song Light The Torch Of Strength featured a bass-less quartet.

Laura had picked the band's monicker based on the Tool song, Ænima.

Reviews

ANEUMA - FLESH AND BONE - ART GATES
Aneuma's Flesh And Blood is the band's debut album, after two demos, but most members are experienced having been in other bands going back many years. This explains why the music is advanced and coherent. Despite the image and the frontwoman Laura Alfonso telling my prejudiced eyes that this would be one of those useless so-called symphonic acts (K&F - keyboards & female vocals), Flesh And Bone is instead a heavy and power metal act with growled vocals. That's much better, yet the vocals are weak and the growls unimpressive. There is an Arch Enemy influence here and with tight rattling, the cracking bass and pounding drums things should add up pretty well for the gang. The music, which also sounds like mid-1990s' Carcass, offers whirlwind songs, intricate patterns and male backing vocals. It is only the growls that do let the act down.
Light The Torch Of Strength, which kicks the album off, is a song reminiscent of Ark Royal's Vengeance (but with growled vocals).. Tear Down The Walls is mostly rocking heavy metal, but has a touch of mallcore within. The bass drums power the song. Return from The Land Of The Dead has tinges of folk music, but the guitarist impresses. Overcome is a strong song with matching drums and very cool guitar riffs and soloing. Hear Me Now could have been a proper heavy rock song were it not for Laura's guttural singing. Under The spell is a weak inclusion, while its follow-up Flesh And Bone gives the bass room to shine. Violet is proof again that Aneuma can compose smooth power metal songs and has a knack for impressing both composition and music-wise. Incidentally, many of these song titles make me wonder, given how Of Flesh And Bone is the title for a series of romance novels. - Ali "The Metallian"
