History & Biography
The band is Iranian and inspired by Tolkien’s Lord Of The Rings from whence it obtained its monicker. It was formed in Tehran, Iran by Dean as a solo project in 2004. The band was meant to be an instrumental progressive rock band, but this changed with the induction of singer Ashkan Yazdani.

Pure Steel Records announced September 28th, 2012 as the release date for Saved From The Truth, the third studio album from Iranian heavy metal band Angband. As with 2010's Visions Of The Seeker, the mixing and mastering was done by Achim Köhler (Primal Fear, etc.). The band had lost bassist Halaji in 2010. In the same year the band issued a video for the song Forsaken Dreams. The group disappeared only to reappear in 2020. American Tim Aymar, formerly of Chuck Schuldiner's Control Denied, was the singer. This was not surprising given how Mahyar Dean had penned a book about Chuck Schuldiner band Death previously. The vocalist died in 2023.

Metal fans should approach this act with caution because it incorporates folk music. Angband was an ancient iron fortress built under the ground.
