History & Biography Ashes Of Eden was formed in Montreal in 2000 by three guitarists Armen Apekian, Munsoor Khan and Andy Kerr and soon began performing live around the city. The group issued a demo, Ruins Of The New Dawn, in 2002 and opened for bands like Strapping Young Lad and Despised Icon. Keyboardist David Arango left at this juncture. The Canadian thrashers intended to issue an album in 2005, but the departure of guitarist Andy Kerr in 2004 postponed these plans. The band signed to the local Prodisk label and issued an album in 2007. An album release show, with Mythosis and Horifixion, was announced including free entrance for all.
Reviews ASHES OF EDEN - THE HUMAN: CONDITIONED - PRODISK
“Thrash!” I thought. Good old fashioned thrash with some melodic influences from Scandinavia and Iron Maiden. What’s more the band’s riffs are of a high quality and the sound and production heavy and clear... then the vocals strike. Ashes Of Eden’s music is based on a solid foundation of moderately heavy thrash, but the vocals of Mike Rochford are another matter. While the ever-versatile man manages a heavy grunt at will, his stabs at Macabre shrieks and, worse, clean vocals come across as trendy and juvenile. Examples like the title track or Cerebral War are essentially wasted efforts. In disappointing fashion, this band’s frontman wrecks a generally respectable attempt at dousing the fans with heavy metal made in Canada. Ashes of Eden is not one to commit, which is something that works a lot more in its music than its vocals. - Anna Tergel
