AUSPEX - HELIOPAUSE - PERVADE
Auspex is a French band with something of a playful sound. The band has departed the realms of metal and is a candidate for exclusion from these pages in the near future. Heliopause - translation: stopped light - is an avant-garde rock album best described as progressive, symphonic and popish. The female vocals are powerful and clear, the music well produced and synthesized around keyboards and melodies. The drum has a wonderful sound too, but is a backdrop to the keyboards and vocals. Barely of any interest to metal fans, Auspex’s present lies with fans of anime, fantasy, symphony and the pop world. The band touts Heliopause as a follow-up to its last album, Resolutio, with that track closing this album. There is also a Japanese song here likely proving the group’s anime influences. What of metal fans? They are as far away from Auspex as Japan is to France. - Ali “The Metallian”
