History & Biography Barren Cross was another US white metal band except this time around the band maintained an affinity for Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. An earlier incarnation of the band was a high school band with two female vocalists. The band hailed from Los Angeles and was formed in 1983. Barren Cross maintained an astonishingly stable line-up (divine intervention?) from its 1985 Believe demo unto its return disc of 1994. The band did try a dedicated singer called Vin Van Voltenburg of Sabre and Full Armor on tour in 1990 however. The band quit around the same time with Whitaker taking up vocation with L.A’s police. The band did play a one-off set at the Extreme Mardigras in California in 2001.
The band reformed in 2008. Mike Lee was now Michael Drive. The white metal band commemorated its 30th anniversary by releasing its first new recording in 18 years, entitled Birth Pangs. The demo was recorded live at the 2012 Elements Of Rock festival in Switzerland.
