Reviews

BATHTUB SHITTER - DANCEHALL GRIND - SHIT JAM
Depending on one’s point-of-view, the song playing or one’s favourite style Dancehall Grind can be a grinding masterpiece or, the band would forgive my transparent plagiarization, a real piece of shit.
The Japanese grinders have a fetish for fecal matter, which aside from their delightful monicker, comes across in songs like Re-Shit, Everybody Has The Wet, PS From BS or Rest In Piss. The band’s tender feelings are especially strong during the acoustic strum of Shit Drop. Vocally, though, is where the action is and where the band might find a few naysayers. While half the vocals are of the growling variety, the other half comes across as if grindcore has mutated and passed from the human species to the mouse genus. Masato’s shrieks are either inspired by a mouse with a crushed scrotum or simply influenced by Macabre. Perhaps those two things are really one and the same. The band grinds with conviction, yet a song like Time Out slows down (for a second or two), while Stihs Latem redefines the concept of backward messaging. Dancehall Grind is the stuff of discotheque lavatory dreams. - Ali “The Metallian”
