History & Biography Battered was formed by several former Einherjer members following the decision to disband in 2004. A demo called ...Beyond Recognition was issued in 2004. The last member to join was singer Olaisen in 2005. The band signed to Tabu Recordings in October of 2005 and issued its album five months later. The album was recorded earlier in the summer of that year. The disc was issued in America by Candlelight.
Guitarist Glesnes operated Native North Records briefly at the turn of the century.
Einherjer reformed in 2008. Battered ended.
Reviews BATTERED - Same - TABU
Would you think a couple of guys would get a hint had their previous band been dealt the hand of oblivion by an uncaring record buying public and subsequently not form a new band that rips off Slayer? The song New Lament could have easily been renamed New Slayer Featuring The Riffs From The Old Slayer.
That is the bad news. The good news is that Battered, at least, does not sound like Einherjer. That is the silver lining. The Norwegians are completely devoted to thrash metal, albeit without any regard for quality control. The music is both derivative and pedestrian. The Dig is '80s thrash metal, a la Vio-lence, but nowhere as good. Parasight - another corny title - is even more dated thrash of the abysmal kind. Foreseeing the difficulties, it will have to overcome upon releasing an album of largely boring material the band closes the album with a song called Derelict, which borrows from Tool. Another bad idea. - Ali “The Metallian”
