History & Biography Blessed Death was an under-rated heavy and speed metal band that was explicitly influenced by Exciter and Mercyful Fate. It was founded as Krome Locust in August of 1984. The early bassist killed himself, which was one reason the band chose its new monicker. The two members had been joined by three Death members at this point. The group chose ‘Die for metal, live for Blessed Death’ as its motto. The rhythm section was identical twins (hello Viogression!) and the track Blessed Death best characterized the band's appeal with those high and effective vocals. Demos came in 1984 and 1985. A US mini-tour was undertaken with Have Mercy and Agent Steel. Three members were involved in a serious car accident around the same time. The group toured Europe with Cyclone and Defender in 1988. The split came in 1992. The group’s debut album was issued by its management’s Tungsten Records at first before being licensed. The management team had invested $23,000 to make the record happen and thus when Roadrunner came knocking was uninterested as the label wanted a new record and did not wish to license and re-release the debut record. Megaforce was, hence, the solution. Roadrunner ended up distributing the record in Europe anyway. The group jumped unto that label’s roster for the second one.
Blessed Death issued the Hour Of Pain demo-album independently late in 2006 following nearly 20 years of silence. The album featured unreleased material dating back to 1991. Poland’s Metal Mind Productions released the band’s two proper albums on CD in 2007. Kill Or Be Killed and Destined For Extinction were due in August 2007. Jeff Anderson died of cancer in 2016.
