Reviews BUILT UPON FRUSTRATION - THE BOOK OF MOURNING - DA’CORE
This band has the perfect name. What else would better describe this crappy world we live in? No wonder, the band’s outlook, lyrics and music reflect the sorry state of humanity. It is easy to hear that the members are partial to hardcore - and no it is not only the irritating label name - because its foot prints are everywhere, although this disc will certainly appeal to fans of metal of the down tuned, gruff, heavy and angry kind. The title might indicate a doom metal group of sorts, but Built 2006 is a mishmash of Crowbar, Slayer and Internal Bleeding without the speed. This is suffocating, strangulating, depressive stuff coming from the heart of these gents gnashing their teeth at people, faith and society. It is bleak stuff and so directly speaks to anyone brave enough to see the world for what it is. The sound is pretty organic except for the fake toms and cymbals and the lyrics are a tribute to every sick poser out there disguised as a respectable someone. This should be ten times bigger than Biohazard if there is any justice out there, except guess what... - Anna Tergel
