History & Biography Goth and horror band Carach Angren has been active since 2003. The act was a side-project of Vaultage at first. The band’s name was inspired by The Lord Of The Rings where a pass into Mordor was called Carach Angren or ‘Iron Jaws.’
The Chase Vault Tragedy was a 2004 demo. The band was Seregor, Ardek and Namtar. The last two are brothers. Ethereal Veiled Existence was the 2005 demo. Maddening Media of Germany picked up the debut album. This would be re-issued by Season Of Mist eventually. The next album was based on the condemned ship story of The Flying Dutchman. The group signed with Season Of Mist next. Jack Owen of Deicide was playing on the road with Carach Angren in 2016 and 2017. Necronomicon, Marduk and Rotting Christ were touring North America in 2016. Children Of Bodom would tour North America With Carach Angren, Lost Society and Uncured in the autumn of 2017. The band’s line-up was stable, while the group used additional guest musicians including bassists, until the departure of Namtar in 2020. The Netherlands-based band had a music video for the title track of its latest release Franckensteina Strataemontanus in late 2020.
A European tour with Septic Flesh was cancelled. Hypocrisy would embark on the Worship tour of Canada and the USA with Carach Angren, The Agonist and Hideous Divinity in April and May 2022. The group was also booked for Dark Troll Festival 2022 in Germany and Mexico Metal Fest later in the year. Rotting Christ, Carach Angren, Uada, and Gaerea were touring North America in 2023.
