History & Biography
Bands these days are not actually bands. Everyone is trying to make a buck by being in a dozen acts and there are more so-called band members coming and going than there are number of years in the group’s history. Codex Mortis is no different. The band was founded in 2017. Guitarist Steven Van Lint left in 2019. A couple of tracks were uploaded in 2020 and 2021 in advance of the grammatically dubious What Befalls Of Tainted Souls of 2021. Drummer Quint Meerbeek died in 2023.

Tales Of Woe, an album by The Netherlands-based black metal band Codex Mortis, was out through Black Lion Records in June. It was a story about an evil spirit that tortured a man through demonic possession and mind control. Drums-for-hire Michiel Van Der Plicht was a guest on this album. The band was booked for Bloodfest V in the summer.

Andy Wit (Anchillys) and Alex Schollema occasionally play with the band live.
