History & Biography Skotniczny, Marek Kowalski and drummer Maciek Zieba formed Crionics in 1997. The band recorded a Demo '98 on a four-track machine the year after which also featured a cover of Emperor's song I Am The Black Wizards. Keyboardist Borowiec was soon recruited. This disc was issued internationally by Candlelight in 2004. It was recorded at Hertz Studio in Poland. Reviews CRIONICS - HUMAN ERROR - WAYS TO SELFDESTRUCTION - CANDLELIGHT
It is really ironic that Crionics has named its latest album Human Error - Ways To SelfDestruction. If practicing what one preaches were an axiom these Poles followed this album would have been a fantastic one. For the core of this disc is excellent. The band's death metal is stylishly entertaining and powerful, the vocalist has a powerful snarl and the guitarist masters his fret board unquestioningly. Then the band goes proving its comatose sheepishness by following its idol Emperor by using keyboards. Why a metal band would lower itself to pop/rock status is beyond me, but as things stand Crionics is like a beautiful and delicious cake with a pile of feces on top of it - what a waste! - Ali "The Metallian"
CRIONICS - ARMAGEDDON'S EVOLUTION - CANDLELIGHT
So-called 'black metal' with keyboards is so childish that one is forced to wonder whether the Crionics members' face paint is applied by their moms. Emperor is a cruel joke to real metal fans. Crionics is the same joke repeated again. - Ali "The Metallian"
CRIONICS - NEUTHRONE - CANDLELIGHT
While it is true that Poland’s Crionics has held the line on electronic elements and hence limited the damage, Neuthrone is still an album looking for a reason to exist, an audience and a musical direction. The self-declared metal band (how does one say ”˜sorry, wrong’ in Polish?) is high on adrenaline, but low on credibility and even lower on the originality scale. The album at hand, the quartet’s third, is near to Vader vocally, Behemoth structurally, but worse than either due to the presence of gobs of synthesizers. If only the band would understand metal as well as it does dressing up in standard issue Dimmu whatever/Behemoth uniform this album would be far more credible. Incidentally, the demo song Black Warriors from a decade ago is much better than everything else included on this album. While we are at it, what is the word for 'regression' in Polish? - Ali “The Metallian”
