History & Biography Crom has been an epic metal band since 1997. The band featured former Dark Fortress man Walter “Crom” Grosse on vocals, guitar and bass. Promo 2000 and Promo 2002 were the early demos, but they already stablished a fantasy-oriented theme for the solo act of Walter Grosse. The theme continued with the 2003 demo, The Fallen Beauty. It took several years, but Pure Steel Records of Germany released the act’s debut album. It was called Vengeance and arrived in the summer of 2008. The recording stemmed from 2006. High Roller pressed it on vinyl. The next album was out in late 2011, but the music was recorded during the Vengeance sessions. Vocals were gradually added later. The bombast, heroes, Vikings and acoustic guitars went silent until 2017 when a new album arrived.
Now on From The Vaults, Into The Glory Land was an EP in 2021, albeit one of those with a couple of cover versions and acoustic tracks. Crom had utilized musicians for concerts before, but this was a first studio line-up. Thomas Hagl was on drums and guitarist Stefan Peyerl contributed lead guitars. The latter man knew the former from his death metal band, Path Of Debris. Stefan and Walter had known one another for years. Crom’s The Era Of Darkness was out through From The Vaults in January 2023. It was mixed by V. Santura (Dark Fortress and Tryptikon). The act appeared at Metal 4 Meinerzhagen 2022 opening for Sacred Steel. Hans Rott was accompanying the band on bass for the live environment. Ivan was on guitar, which left Crom handling the vocals only.
Crom is the name of the god in the Conan novels.
