History & Biography Cruella De Vil was a Disney witch. C.C. DeVille was Poison’s guitarist, so who knows? The band was founded as Valentine, with Marc Togie on Keyboards, in 1986 before changing monickers in 1987. A Valentine was recording and touring at the time. The group played a mix of originals and cover versions and had a demo produced by Keith Collins Of Savatage. The act moved from Tampa, Florida to California in 1988. The two guitarists also began attending the Guitar Institute Of Technology (GIT). Cruella D'ville was also the name of a 1988 demo, which Big Time Records opted to distribute. Juan Croucier, the bass player from Ratt, heard the band and wanted to produce them. Club 19 4.16 Live was released in 1989. The pattern repeated with another demo and another live recording in the next two years. The boys obtained a weekly gig at the Troubadour playing every Wednesday night for a year in 1990. The group reported that it obtained a recording deal and began recording only to fall out with the label scuttling everything. Jon Bales switched to bass from guitar. Ray Caron, who himself had replaced Frankie Baker, had left. Baker did not desire to relocate to California. The glam movement came to a halt and three quarters of the band switched to a new act called Brick.
Showdown in Tinsel Town was a compilation issued by Suncity Records in 2008. The Power And The Passion 1986-1991 was out on retro label FnA Records to start 2023. It featured Valentine music, demo material and recordings intended for the aforementioned album.
