History & Biography
The epic doom metal group was founded in 2013 and released Demo MMXIII. Brooks Wilson had briefly also handled the bass guitar.This was later repressed by Dark Descent Records. The inaugural record arrived at the beginning of 2015.

The formation was booked for Maryland Deathfest XIV. The band Sumerlands' debut live performance was to be held at Union Pool in Brooklyn, New York in October 2016. Opening were Eternal Champion, Crypt Sermon and Chain. The band was booked for Hellfest Open Air 2017. The group lost bassist Will Mellor. The second record was issued in late summer of 2019. Guitarist James Lipczynski left in 2022 after being part of the ensemble since 2013. Frank Chim moved to guitar from bass, but the band also hired a keyboardist. Frank Chin also climbed the stage with Eternal Champion in 2022. The band itself appeared at Copenhell.

Doom metal band Crypt Sermon released The Stygian Rose through Dark Descent in June 2024. Said singer Brooks Wilson, “I didn't want to feel burdened by heavy metal tropes.” The album followed a character inspired by fantasist Paschal Beverly Randolf. The band was booked for Northwest Terrorfest 2024. The band was booked for Decibel Magazine's 20th Anniversary Show on August 31 2024. The act had also played at Decibel Metal And Beer Festival 2017 and 2021. The band was booked for Hell's Heroes VII in the USA for March 2025.

Members also play together elsewhere like in Daeva (black/thrash) or Unrest (grindcore) or Vektor (thrash metal).
