History & Biography
Deride (meaning to laugh at with contempt) was formed in the autumn of 1995 in Bergen, Norway by Greve, Walaunet and Johan on bass. Ole and Johan had previously played together in another band and had actually jammed as a trio (with Greve) in Trondheim without using the name Deride. The band's first show was at Bergen's Garage venue.

A self-titled demo is released, but by 1998 the band fell apart. A year later Walaunet and Greve recruit two new members and, having recorded a new demo, sign to The Music Cartel. The band had previously garnered interest from Noise and Diehard Music.Ole played the bass on the first albums. Deride signed a deal with Massacre Records for 2012. The band's next album was called The Void and was released on April 27th.

Frediablo has several side projects including Baphomet Records' signee Gorelord. Lizzy Killers was a Thin Lizzy cover band.

Reviews

DERIDE - FIRST ROUND KNOCKOUT - THE MUSIC CARTEL
Deride is a Norwegian metal band which has kicked around here and there since 1993 - the biography says 1995 - and released an album or two. The members also work other acts such as a Thin Lizzy cover band and Baphomet Records' Gorelord. So, is the band closer to hard rock or death metal? Actually the band is not akin to either. Deride likes to use the big and chunky riffs that bands like Meshuggah, Darkane and early Machine Head utilize. Having said that, the quartet clearly respects its metal heritage. The vocalist varies his singing quite a bit in order to keep the proceedings fresh. The band also deviates from its core sound to introduce different metallic elements into the mix. Still, and be that as it may, First Round Knockout is best recommended to Meshuggah listeners.
