History & Biography
Eventide is an extreme metal band from Stockholm with self-described progressive touches. The band was formed in 1998.

Andy LaRocque produced Diaries From The Gallows. Niklas Sundin took care of the artwork. The group’s known demos are 1999’s Caress The Abstract (recorded at Los Angered) and Promo 2000. A 2005 demo called No Place Darker translated into a deal with Cartel Media. The band entered the studio in October of 2007 in order to record a new album. Instead, the Planet Plague demo arrived in 2008. This was followed by an independent recording called The Beast And The Machine in 2010. The band was on hiatus next until officially resuming activities in 2013, but not much happened. Max, Thomas and Sebastian were attending college. There was a concert with Degradead, which was poorly attended. The members went their separate ways again until 2019. A recording session was cancelled in 2020 due to Jacob being ill. The band separated leaving only Jacob standing although there was not any activity.

Reviews

EVENTIDE - DIARIES FROM THE GALLOWS - CARTEL MEDIA
The Swedish version of Eventide is a schizophrenic band. One moment soft and lush like Opeth, another moment thrashing like Hypocrisy and yet later sounding like a deliberate progressive band a la Evergrey the album has it all. The thrashy riffs and the soft synthesizer melodies usually exist on the same song. Perhaps the hollow drum sound is meant to be the uniting factor because the contrast between the whispers, clean singing and growls is sure to confuse or amaze the fans.
Whatever the sound the band is full of emotion and is in control of its sound. The group has given its sound special attention and care, but this style is always hit and miss with the listeners and needs a bigger promotional push than Cartel Media would afford at a guess. For now, fans of Opeth Tranquillity should check this out. - Anna Tergel
