History & Biography The UK-based band became Forged In Black in 2013. The group created a demo from its older material and simply called it Forged In Black. This was remastered and reissued with a new cover by tattoo artist guitarist guitarist Andy Songhurst in 2024. It was entitled Forged In Black Remastered MMXXIV. The Tide demo also came in 2013. Forged In Black’s demo Fear Reflecting Fear was out in the summer of 2016. Chris Tsangarides produced it. Sinner Sanctorum was the 2017 demo. UK-based heavy metal act Forged In Black signed a deal with Fighter Records in 2019 for the release of its album Descent Of The Serpent, which was scheduled for the 5th of March. Forged In Black had an official live bootleg demo EP in 2020, capturing its special acoustic set, at Hammerfest X. It was simply called Hammerfest X Unplugged (Official Live Bootleg). Forged In Black took a break from working on its follow-up to its Fighter Records’ album, Descent Of The Serpent, to film a video for the song One In The Chamber from the aforementioned album. Forged In Black played two sets at the Bloodstock Open Air festival in the summer of 2021 - both on the Serpent's Lair V.I.P. Stage. The band recorded a cover version, Deep Purple's Into The Fire. The band was heading into the studio to record a new album that autumn.
After leaving the band in 2016, guitarist Tim Chandler returned to Forged In Black in 2022, which he had helped found. The group was booked for a concert with NWOBHM acts Marquis De Sade and Kev Riddles' Baphomet. Inspired by Netflix show Stranger Things, the band recorded a medley of Kate Bush and Metallica, called it Running Up That Hill (A Deal With The Master) and shot a video for it.
Forged in Black had an album, entitled Lightning In The Ashes, through Fighter Records on June 20th 2023. The artwork was completed by Dan Goldsworthy (Accept, Haken, etc.) and the music was produced by James Curtis Thomas at the Essex Recording Studio. In the meantime, Kevin Rochester resigned from the band. Oli Gill was the replacement drummer. The band released a cover version of Iron Maiden's Be Quick Or Be Dead and was booked to open for Iron Maiden cover band Ion Maiden in 2024.
Andy Songhurst had a tattoo shop.
