History

Gurd was formed by V.O. Pulver who is best known for his other Century Media band Poltergeist. He and Marek initiated the band in early 1994 with a sound juxtaposed against traditional metal with more grooves and commercial leanings.

The band quickly set about touring around Europe with Spudmonsters and Channel Zero. Gurd performed at Dynamo Open Air in 1996. Simultaneously with the dissolution of Major Records, the band switched over to Century Media where they issued D-Fect. A tour with Pro-pain and Life Of Agony followed. The band and label also released a re-mix of D-Fect album soon thereafter. Down The Drain was produced by Tomas Skogsberg.

The other band members abandoned Pulver at this point. Nonetheless, Pulver recruited new members like Spring, Andrej and Tschibu and forged ahead.

The band went searching for a new deal by recording a demo in 2001. In late 2002 Diehard Music of Denmark announced the signing of the band. Encounter was announced as the new album-title for the band. Franky (ex-The Lie and Bullgott and also part of Pulver's solo band) was also announced as the band's new bassist. The band added guitarist Pat (formerly of Acid, Crionics and Evereve) to the line-up in late 2004. 10 Years Of Addiction was a live audio/video. The band toured with Pro-Pain in 2007. Gurd’s Your Drug Of Choice was out in January, 2009 through LC Records. Schmier of Destruction guested on the record. Drummer Mauro "Tschibu" Casciero left Gurd in order to concentrate on his family after ten years of service. Gurd played its last show with drummer Mauro "Tschibu" Casciero on December 12th, 2009 at the Biomill Club in Laufen, Switzerland. It would be the group's first appearance with new man Steve Karrer. According to the group, "During the concert, the drum sticks will be passed to our new drummer. The change will be performed live!” Gurd released its new album, Never Fail, on October 28th, 2011 through NoiseArt Records.
