History & Biography
This black metal act was founded in 2004. It was conceived as a side-project of The Martyrium members, Narhemoth and Saruman. The 2005 album Westfälischer Schlachtenlärm signalled the band’s intention to pen in German. The issuing label Blutvergiessen released Nazi material. The duo was singer Narhemoth and singer/guitarist/bassist Saruman. The band stated its desire to work with labels without a contract and based on mutual trust. Der Untergang Der Alten Welt officially added drummer Feuerriese. The issuing label Christhunt Productions released Nazi material. The Martyrium itself had issued music on NSBM label, Nebelfee Klangwerke. The next album Ut De Graute Olle Tied - Deel I featured footage from the group’s appearance at Wolfszeit Festival. The band would appear at this festival again in the ensuing years. Heervader, Heimdalls Wacht and Winterlieke appeared on a split release courtesy of Det Germanske Folket to begin 2009.

The label for the split released the band’s next full-length. Nichtorte - Oder Die Geistreise Des Runenschamanen was issued at the beginning of 2010. Ekte Westfäölske Svatte Metal’s album title switched to Norwegian although the song titles remained German. A.P. and Der Stein were added and the band was a quintet. The follow-up to the 2008 album was next. The Dutch A.P./Herjann (who owns Heidens Hart Records and is doing the rounds with many acts) and Teja were on guitar. Thjafjaz was on bass. Winterheart was on drums. Singer and co-founder Narhemoth left citing personal circumstances in 2016, but not before introducing his replacement Skjeld who, in turn, would stay until 2022. Skjeld was also a former band-mate of new drummer Winterheart. Geisterseher, which was on Trollzorn, had Skjeld on mike and was supported through a lyric video for Scyomantia. The album release concert was in Koeln and the act appeared at Dark Troll festival.

Ancestors Blood and Heimdalls Wacht offered a split release in early 2023. Germany-based pagan metal act Heimdalls Wacht had an album called Mystagogie through Trollzorn. The record delved into German romanticism and the philosophical concepts of Ludwig Tieck and Klingemann. Sarolf and Wiborg were on the microphone now, which meant that alongside Saruman the band's first album in almost seven years sported three singers. The band was booked to play in Austria and Slovakia, as well as at Germany’s Under The Black Sun. The trendy imperative to announce and commemorate every anniversary continues as Heimdalls Wacht released a video for the song Gespaltenes Land to mark its 20th anniversary a year late in 2025.

The band’s monicker translates into ‘Heimdall’s Watch.’ Heimdall was a Norse god and the son of Odin. The band calls itself a “neo-romantic art project.”
