History & Biography
Specializing in brutal black metal, the band was formed in 1998 as Sacrifice, but soon changed its name to avoid confusion with the many Sacrificers out there. The band switched over to Horned God in 2000 - although another band also used the same monicker again. Penna from Rebaelliun replaced Daniel and shows with the likes of Cannibal Corpse followed. The band obtained a European deal with France's Listenable for its next outing. Erico Pedrosa left in 2004. A couple of the band members have been taught in the ways of metal by members of Krisiun. The official end came in 2008. Fabiano Penna died in 2018. Drummer Correa would join Funeratus with whom he had sessioned year prior.

Reviews

HORNED GOD - CHAOS, BRINGER OF ALL REVELATIONS - LISTENABLE
It is difficult to recommend Horned God. It is equally painful to not support the Brazilians. The band is completely devoted to its death metal mandate and, much like Krisiun, pummels the listener in speedy fashion. The album opener, War Goes On, quickly seeks to establish this by deploying heavy riffs, clever licks and constant soloing. This is all encouraging; alas the promise is not fulfilled as the CD progresses. For one, the sound - in particular the bass and drums - is muffled. This detracts from the music. The band also happens to use uninventive and generic riffs and chords. There is little here that a Krisiun fan has not heard before. Furthermore, the rhythm guitarist has the unfortunate habit of repeating the same riff over and over and over. He might be attempting to lend the songs a hypnotic feeling, but the result is more annoyance and restlessness than anything else. Again, it is not easy to not recommend Horned God. Having said that, the three aforementioned factors conspire and work against an otherwise solid death metal band. - Ali "The Metallian"
