History & Biography Hurtlocker was formed in 1998 in Chicago by Tim Moe and Grant Belcher. The previous monicker for the thrash metal group was Autumnal. The band featured Brazilian drummer Murilo Nobrega early on. The band played shows with the likes of Anthrax, King Diamond, Macabre and Dying Fetus and, having signed with Austria's Napalm Records, issued its debut in January of 2006 after promising it for November of 2005. 2004's demo Begging For Hatred was recorded with Jungle Rot's Chris Djuric on bass. Dan Ditella died in 2006.
A second album with second guitarist Justin Jurgevich and drummer Tony Bettenhausen arrived. Djuric contributed bass again and the band welcomed a guest solo by Joel Hoekstra. The band split up. Two members ended up in These Are They. Justin Jurgevich died in 2023.
