History & Biography This incarnation of Wroclaw, Poland-based Infernum was formed in 2002 following the split in the ranks of the original Infernum. Rob Darken and Anextiomarus each forged their own incarnation of Infernum, leading inevitably to two different bands with the same monicker in the same city.
The Curse was recorded in and released through Soundriot Records in 2006. Anextiomarus had committed suicide in 2004 however. The band and label had contracted for three albums.
Reviews INFERNUM - THE CURSE - SOUND RIOT
The Polish band Infernum has finally released an album, albeit too late for its founder who was found dead two years ago now. At first listen, the album is disappointing and dangerous. It is disappointing because it plods most of the time, has the cheesiest intro since... forever and uses keyboards and a female moaner. I thought the scene was over that stuff. It is dangerous because if Sound Riot releases albums like this we will soon lose another underground label. Labels like Witch Hunt, MMI, Adipocere and others were churning out stuff like this and all went bankrupt at one point or the other. We need more labels that sign bands, not less.
The Curse has a couple of better moments. Storm Rider Picks up the pace and injects some energy into the proceedings. Epitaph is actually rich in atmosphere and is obviously influenced by Mayhem’s great album, Mysteriis Dom Sathanas. If Infernum is still a going concern, it needs to snap out of its lacklustre approach and put more effort into its music in the future. - Anna Tergel
