History & Biography Tasmanian grindcore band Intense Hammer Rage was formed in 1994. The band soon established its grinding pussycore sound via demos like Massive Sphinkta Release, Devogrindporngorecoreaphile and Gory B. The later was issued by Obliteration Records. These lead to the band's debut which was self-released and was more of a compilation. A split with Drogheda and a contract with Razorback Records followed. The band's second album was the subject of censorship and state violence in Australia and attracted fines for the band members. Live activity was again witnessed in 2005.
Reviews INTENSE HAMMER RAGE - AVAGOYAMUGS - RAZORBACK
Avagoyamugs - Aborigine word for necrogrind - is one of those albums that comes along every once in a while that reminds us how sick grindcore can be. When the bio states that the band 'write a fuckload of new material' unbeknownst to most it is to be taken quite literally. Serenades to the dead and decayed, odes to teen maidens who are 12 years old and lots more fun'n games are all here on one CD. Suffice to say that judging by the art, lyrics, titles and many allusions, IHR makes Satan blush. Musically imagine Impaled and Impetigo with a little bonus belching and puking and there you have it - never mind the drum machine (sigh), screaming and the dizzztorted guitar grinding that is a requisite for all bands in the pussycore genre. Their moms must be proud. - Ali "The Metallian"
