History & Biography The prolific underground musician and DJ Mikael Bayusik formed Into The Sunless Meridian in 1993. A demo called XXIX A.S. was crafted in 1994. Another called Sex Magick appeared a year later. The New Yorker managed to issue a self-titled album in 1999 that had been readied for two years. This album had initially garnered interest from Hammerheart and Unsiound, but appeared on Sweden’s Near Dark. A second album, entitled Neo-Barbarian, was seeking a home, but the act disbanded in 1999 instead.
Reviews INTO THE SUNLESS MERIDIAN - Same - NEAR DARK
I've never been one for solo projects (one look at Burzum and its fans says it all really), and despite the poetic name and fascinating cover picture I am not about to change my mind - I think. I say I think because N.Y.-based Mike Bayusik veritably encapsulates several styles into his round paradigm: the vocals, for example range from King Diamond to Snake to Celtic frost and back. The music (and its weak drumming) go from doom to Dark Throne and turn left on the street too. Hmmm, I dare say. Still, this has underground written all over it. So it has some fans built in. - Ali "The Metallian"
