History & Biography
The black metal band Irae was founded in 2002 and soon belonged to one of those periodic 'circles' that pop up here and there. This one was called Black Circle. Early demos were Spreading The Wrath Of Satan (2003) and Ave Sathanas I Was Born To Murder The World (2004). Further demos were Anti Human Rehearsal and Victims Of My Insanity. A 2006 album was called Terror 666. By now, the act had participated in split releases with Coldness, Inthyflesh (which Hugo would briefly join later) and Nightrealm and more would keep on coming.

The act climbed the stage for the first time in 2008, the result of which was...At Man's Ruin. Concert members were used. The main man would employ different live guests going forward. Rites Of Unholy Destruction was a 2013 self-cover version trendy full-length (commemorating the 10th anniversary), but more importantly the act was fast cornering the demo and split release market. The act was billed at SWR Barroselas Metalfest 2018 where the act had also been booked in 2012. The Old Ways was a 2019 EP. The cover artwork obviously hinted at Burzum or Darkthrone. The man was billed at a small gig called Baforada 2024 and Metal Assembly Festival 2024. Portugal-based black metal band Irae had an EP, called Promiscuous Fire, through Signal Rex that was released in January 2025. Irae was supporting Marduk on its upcoming European tour in February and March.

Hugo and Irae may be releasing monthly albums, demos and split CDs, but that does not stop the man from being in a dozen acts simultaneously.
