The group was formed in 2002 in Victoria. There was Demo in 2003 and Diskra in 2004. Profane Existence signed the band and issued a self-titled record for the band. Several EPs and splits with the likes of Mankillsman and Self Rule followed. The band next worked with local label Black Raven Records. The European Tour Demo was a rehearsal recording. Southern Lord would issue Canadian black metal band Iskra’s Ruins on digipak CD, including a twenty-page booklet with lyrics and liner notes, on July 1st.
The band was compared to Immortal and Absu. Iskra translates to ‘spar’" in several Slavic languages.
