The Gothenburg-based band is a side project of Dark Tranquillity's guitarist Niklas Sundin. The band was formed in 2005. The Swedes recorded a five-track demo for labels and soon signed with The End Records. A European deal was also struck with Osmose Productions, the former label for Dark Tranquillity.
LAETHORA - MARCH OF THE PARASITE - THE END
On the whole it does not sound very promising when Dark Tranquillity's guitarist Niklas Sundin gets together with three members of an unknown Swedish goth band to form an “intense and brutal death/grind” band. Setting aside the fact that March Of The Parasite has no grindcore going on, the result is actually decent to good, if not spectacular, death metal. The brutal grunts remind of Cannibal Corpse, while the music teeters somewhere between Gorefest and Grave circa Soulless. Pretty good, although the guys end up losing control and showing their wimpy side by having slow strumming, acoustic guitars and clean singing on Impostors (hmmmm...) or keyboards and effects on The Scum Of Us All. There is plenty of heavier and extreme moments come up like on the tangibly extreme Warbitary. Incidentally, check out the cover artwork and how close it is The Blackout Arguments’ EPs.- Anna Tergel
