History & Biography
Malleus Maleficarum was formed in 1997 in the beautiful environs of La Rochelle in the west of France. The thrashy black metal band adorned corpse paint and went to work propagating nihilism and depression. The band recorded two songs for a demo in 1999, but only issued its first demo, Heic Noenum Pax, months later. The year 2000 brought another demo, Zarach 'Baal' Tharagh. Two albums on Oaken Shield - Adipocere Records' imprint - were followed by a 2006 album on Aura Mystique. The group cancelled an appearance at Black Metal Is Rising I show in 2008 and became inactive.

Malleus Maleficarum is Latin and translates to 'Hammer Against The Witches.' It is a manual written circa 1486 describing the methods of witches and means to stopping them. There were bands with the same name in other countries like Canada and Poland. Autopsy was a death metal band from France.
