History & Biography This heavy metal band was established as Warhell in Sapporo on the island of Hokkaido in 1988 and changed monickers four years later. A self-title demo was out in 1994, which was followed by Under Fire in 1997 and Unfolds The Way in 2001. The group played around Japan beginning in 1998. Multiple guitarists and drummers came and went.
Spiritual Beast signed the band and issued the debut record. The group had played in Hong Kong and at the Headbangers Open Air in Germany by now. The follow-up arrived a mere seven years later. The band managed to recruit several German heavy metal singers to record vocals and guitars for the album. Piet Sielck (Iron Savior) helped with the recording and Kai Hansen laid down a recording. Maverick was on an Anvil tribute CD called Strong As Steel in 2013. The group also opened for Anvil in 2014.
Guitarist Yasuda who was on the second record and drummer Nakatsubo Jun bowed out in 2015. Yonehara Takahiro left the bass position in 2017. Early drummer Key Dragon (also Fast Draw) re-joined in 2017. Guitarist Noriyasu who was heard on the debut album succumbed to cancer in 2021. He was in Phantom Of Sorrow when he died.
Several members were in another band called Tons Of Sobs earlier. Maverick is not a productive band and is riddled with band member changes. The band had its own weekly FM radio show in Sapporo in 2021 and on.
