History & Biography Mainz-based solo black/doom metal band Melkor was founded in 2004. The monicker was taken from the tales of J.R.R. Tolkien. Call Of The Enchained was an initial demo. It took the band five years to release its next demo, Ferne. This demo was recorded in 2007. The next one took another five years and was called Irrlicht. The band’s first record was issued in early 2021. It was initially presented as Brandnacht by the label before a correction presented it as Brandmale. Four of the eight tracks featured old German poetry from Clemens Brentano, Ricarda Huch, Richard Dehmel and Karl Gustav Vollmoeller.
