History & Biography
Memento Mori – ‘Remember Death’ – was formed in 1992 by Mike Wead of Hexenhaus fame and soon featured a who’s-who of the Swedish heavy metal scene. The band signed with Black Mark Production of Sweden (Bathory, etc.) and issued its debut in 1993. Messiah stayed for only two albums before being replaced by Billy St. John (a.k.a. Johan Billerhag) of Hexenhaus had taken over the drums for La Danse Macabre. Tom Björn drummed on the fourth and last album. By this time, Mike Wead himself was more active in Mercyful Fate.

Memento Mori participated in the Black Mark Festival tour in Germany in 1995. Messiah returned for album number four. The band never officially broke up, but the band members were too preoccupied elsewhere to continue.
