History & Biography
These Swedish thrashers were formed in the south of Sweden in the town of Nykoping in the autumn of 1987. The band was called Necromancy for three years before that. The first concert was in December of 1987. Nicklas Andersson was on bass for the demos, but left as he became a family man. Following The Frozen Soul and The Cross Of Tormention demo tapes, the band obtained a three-album contract with Active Records (Hexenhaus, Candlemass, etc.) and issued its sole album in 1990. The act toured with label-mates Kazjurol and Hexenhaus. The band was soon dropped however. Apparently, the band was criticizing the label due to unfulfilled promises and word was relayed to the company.

A demo 1991 went nowhere and the group hung it up. By this time Welen had already left the band, moved to Stockholm and joined another Active Records’ band, namely Hexenhaus, in Stockholm. Uffe took over the bass for a while before joining Rosicrucian. The band reunited for a 2005 show, filmed an independent DVD called Then Came The Video. The DVD featured old footage and imagery, as well as the gig’s film. Welen, in the meantime, was a professional songwriter. Steffe succumbed to cancer in 2018.

Like most bands Mezzrow returned. The year was 2021. Only singer Uffe and bassist Conny were from the early line-up. The other three new members were designated full-time band members, but were the types who were in a dozen acts simultaneously. Then Came The Demos was out through Hammerheart Records in 2022. It featured all of the band's demo material. The underground shall never stay the underground was the universal mantra. A new album was announced for 2023. Joacim Cans from HammerFall had connected the label and the band. The band featured singer Uffe and returning bassist Conny from the old days. Conny had produced the new record. The rest were new recruits who were in a dozen bands simultaneously. The band was booked for the Keep It True festival in Germany. As Fear Unfolds was a new song and video at the end of 2024. The band reported it was a harbinger of a new album to follow in 2025 and that the lyrics were written for another song in 1992 initially. F.K.Ü., Mezzrow and Methane announced the Clash Of Thrash Tour 2025 for May in Sweden.

The band relayed that the monicker was either snatched from jazz musician Mezz Mezzrow or was a combination of ‘mess’ and ‘row.’
