Reviews MIRADOR - THE AZRAEL TALES - RIVEL
As far as hard rock and heavy metal groups go Mirador is a dreadfully so-so one. The band's influences are worn on its sleeve and the emulation is not even optimal. Things don't start under a good omen with the album's opener lifting of the main riff from Marilyn Manson's The Beautiful People. From then on it is off to other songs with allusions to Iron Maiden, Rainbow and especially Candlemass. A song like New day is completely in amour with Candlemass. Then again, the album's last song Metropolis Metamorphosis is more akin to something Jethro Tull would be bothering with. It is not so much that Mirador is a dreadful band, but just the fact that the band members themselves could not be bothered with revealing the line-up on the album's jacket tells one that this is more akin to second-rate bands like Tarot or Silver Mountain than the genre's leading lights. - Ali "The Metallian"
