History & Biography
Necrony was founded as a Carcass-influenced death/grind band. Two friends, who had shared a rehearsal space, but not a band, got together and formed Necrotomy. This monicker was already taken however. A 1991 demo was called Severe Malignant Pustule. Guitarist Dan Wall quit in January of 1992 due to musical differences. Jimmy Lundmark of Altar was invited to join the band and meaning to, but due to Altar’s schedule ended up not participating. Poserslaughter issued the band’s full-length, but soon more demos emerged like 1994’s Promo Tape '93-'94. The album’s recording was actually initially postponed as the band needed more time to write and rehearse. At the end, the disc featured songs with flute and jazz guitars! 1994 brought more Carcass worship in the form of the Necronycism: Distorting The Originals EP. It featured Carcass, Repulsion, Napalm Death and other cover versions. Carcass’ 1991 album was called Necroticism - Descanting The Insalubrious. The band split up in 1996 and the members focused on Nasum. With the advent of the pandemic a slew of posthumous old demos and live recordings were released by the former members and Anders Jakobson specifically.

Nasum was initially a Necrony cover band. The two got together to participate in an official Carcass covers’ album for which they swapped instruments. In its time the band toured Germany in a trek organized by Fleshcrawl’s Stefan Hanus.

Reviews

NECRONY - POSERSLAUGHTER CLASSICS REMASTERS - POSERSLAUGHTER
Poserslaughter Records remasters contain at least one other widely considered classic band, other than Dead, and that is the Carcass covering and inspired Necrony. Another 90 minutes and 28 tracks of material here that includes two songs from the Severe Malignant Pustule demo, the Mucu-Purulent Miscarriage 7” and Necronycism: Distorting The Originals cover CD that came complete with a Carcass rip-off cover art and contained covers of not only Carcass but others like Impetigo, Bolt Thrower, Napalm Death, Repulsion and Carnage. Also included is the 1993 Pathological Performances album. The Swedes play mostly high tempo but also the occasional mid-paced gore death metal with titles that will make any Carcass fan proud with Dextorous Embryctomy and Effervescing Discharge Of Putrescent Corpulence being two notable examples. - Anna Tergel
