History & Biography
The band with the monicker calling to ‘not forget’ was founded by Xen as a doom/violin act in 2003. Remember that. Corey Baker was the early drummer. Sheri-Jesse provided female vocals.

The Aurora Veil was a 2007 demo, which of course was later re-released. The band went quiet until the release of its first album, entitled Portal of I, in 2012. The song ‘Forget Not’ from the demo re-appeared here. Tim Charles sang and played the violin. The group still insisted it is metal, just “progressive” metal with jazz and ethnic music influences. The song And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope was added to a curriculum at an Australian music school. The band switched to Season Of Mist and released Citadel. This record was divided into three movements. Still, the band had to resort to crowdfunding and rewarded the donors with the Hiraeth and Sarabande to Nihil demos in 2015. There was also a limited edition DVD called The Stories Behind Hiraeth And Sarabande To Nihil. The band was on Season Of Mist, but was raising money online to tour.

Cradle Of Filth returned to North America in January of 2016 on the Inquisitional Torture Tour 2016. The trek would run from January 26th through March 8th. Support was provided by Butcher Babies and Ne Obliviscaris. The band mustered a 2017 album apparently still on Season Of Mist. Robin Zielhorst was the guest bassist and a bunch of guests added violins, cellos and other extraneous instruments. Donors sang backing vocals. Three days of recordings were lost in the studio when the band was recording Urn. Brendan "Cygnus" Brown had left due to "irreconcilable personal differences.” The band toured Europe in 2018.

Season Of Mist signed Omega Infinity, the new project of Xen from Australia-based Ne Obliviscaris and Tentakel P., known from extreme metal outfit Todtgelichter in the autumn of 2019. Daniel Presland left after 16 years in 2022. He stated that he wanted to focus on his day jo, studio and Black Lava.

Ne Obliviscaris and Persefone used the Exul monicker for a European tour beginning May 2023. Xul had been in the process of being written and recorded since 2019. Martino Garattoni was on bass officially now after serving as live musician since 2017. The band recruited drummer Kevin Paradis (Benighted, etc.) to drum for its 2023 concerts. Drummer Daniel Presland left the band in 2022. He returned in 2024 replacing the stool-for-hire Kévin Paradis. The band was touring Europe and Latin America. The scene was thriving on 'anniversary' rereleases and 'sets' and so Citadel was reissued by Season Of Mist still in 2024. Dying Fetus and Cradle Of Filth were to co-headline the 2025 Chaos & Carnage Tour of Canada and the USA below it. Opening were Fleshgod Apocalypse, Ne Obliviscaris, Undeath, Vomit Forth and Corpse Pile. First, however, after an extended absence from the band’s tours over the previous two years, Xen made the decision to officially depart Ne Obliviscaris in early 2025. The band announcing James Dorton as its new vocalist. James had been touring as NeO’s live vocalist since May, 2023. Xen cited disdain for touring and his mental state as the reasons.

Metal fans should approach the band with caution. The act prides itself on outside influences and is liked by the corporate magazines and websites’ “post metal” types.
