London, England-based COGAS, described as “Sardinian black-death metal” will release a demo called Among The Dead: How To Become A Ghost in April. According to the publicity, “COGAS was founded in 2015 by Piero Mura and Davide Ambu with the goal of bringing Sardinian extreme metal to the English scene.”

Sweden-based death metal band UNDECAYED will release its debut album, In Death’s Image, through Lethal Scissor Records on 21.05.2025. The band has been around since 2008, but work, loss of rehearsal spaces and line-up changes delayed the recording of an album until now.

AXIOM CHAOS will release its debut album, Primacy Arrival, through Comatose Music on May 9th 2025. The act features singer Justin Vølus (VØLUS, FALL OF GNOSIS, MAGGOT CROWN, etc.) and multi-instrumentalist Ben Vanweelden (VENOMOUS ECHOES, CEREMONIC BURYMENT, etc.).

Sweden-based sludge band THIS GIFT IS A CURSE returns with an album called Heir, which is available through Season Of Mist.

Germany-based doom and sludge band GRIN has a new album, called Acid Gods, through The Lasting Dose Records on May 30th.

Doom and sludge band FÓRN and experimental act INSECT ARK will embark on a tour of the eastern part of Canada and the United States in June.

Horror Pain Gore Death Productions is releasing ANCESTOR OF KAOS’ Animal Ritual album on April 18th 2025. The band was founded in Cuba before moving over to Florida, USA. The act is compared to MAYHEM and SEPULTURA.

Avantgarde/Unorthodox Emanations is issuing CONVULSING’s Perdurance album. The band is described as death metal from Australia.

Former Poland-based band ANAL STENCH bassist Tomasz Futro a.k.a. Futrzak has died. Tomasz was in the band between 2003 and 2012.

Finland-based SARGASSUS will release its debut album Vitruvian Rays through Inverse Records in June 2025.

Osmose Productions will release a new album by UK-based TRIVAX in May 2025. It is called The Great Satan.

Spain-based JADE has a full-length, entitled Mysteries Of A Flowery Dream, through Pulverised Records (CD, LP and digital) and Iron Fortress Records (cassette) in May.

Brazil-based ESCARNIUM has an album called Inexorable Entropy through Everlasting Spew Records on the 9th of May 2025. The label is also pressing Denmark-based FOETOREM’s Demo 2025 and CARTILAGE (US) EP Tales From The Entrails: A Necrology.

VADER has announced the March Of The Unbending – Europe 2025 tour, which kicks off in Luzern, Switzerland, with guests RISE OF KRONOS and SKAPHOS, on April 12, 2025.

Austria-based TRANSILVANIA has an album, called Magia Posthuma, through Invictus Productions later this year.

Good to know they are “pleased” because other labels are displeased when they sign their bands: Transcending Obscurity Records are (sic) “pleased” to announce the signing of death metal band RETCHING for the rerelease of the 2024 debut demo, Charming The Decomposed.

INHUMAN CONDITION, featuring Jeramie Kling (OVERKILL), Taylor Nordberg (DEICIDE) and Terry Butler (OBITUARY), has a full-length album called Mind Trap through Listenable Insanity Records this year.

Hammerheart Records is releasing TUMULUS’ Hymns And Dirges on LP. The label’s first release was a CD with both TUMULUS and MOCK’s demos on one disc. This LP contains the former’s half.

Eternal Death will release the new full-length by the WALD KRYPTA duo in late May.

Norwegian black metal band MORK has recruited drummer Asgeir Mickelson (ex-BORKNAGAR, ex-IHSAHN, ex-SARKE, etc.) as a replacement for Daniel Minge. Asgeir was to join Mork main man Thomas’ side project, UDÅD, when he was recruited into MORK as well. UDÅD, MORK, EMPEROR, etc. are all managed by Photograve Management.

Now backed with a full recording and live line-up, techno-death metal band MATT MILLER has signed with Exitus Stratagem Records for the release of an album, called Fiber Tormentum, which is available on September 12, 2025. The band’s science fiction themes carry over to this release where aliens alter human DNA to take over the planet.

Norwegian black metal band GRYLA has a full-length called The Redeemer’s Festering Carcass through Iron Bonehead Productions.

Sweden-based Viking metal band HAVAMAL will release a new album, entitled Age Of The Gods, through Art Gates Records on November 21, 2025.

Greek-based black metal band NO HAND PATH has returned with its first album since 2011. Entitled Μυστικισμός Της Ενηλικίωσης (‘mysticism Of Coming Of Age’), the record is available through Floga Records.

WOLFHEART is touring Europe under the Draconian Darkness Over Europe monicker this September and October.

Dark metal act BLOOD ABSCISSION has an album called II through Debemur Morti Productions.

Cosmic metal band KHÔRA has signed a deal with Les Acteurs De L’Ombre Productions for the release of a sophomore album called Ananke on May 2nd 2025. It was mixed and mastered by Frédéric Gervais at Studio Henosis.

Switzerland-based groups VIRVUM and STORTREGN are touring Canada this July.

RAGING SLAYER featuring guitarist Slaytanic Speedball Possessor (SEM TALENTO, ANIMALESCO, O MÉTODO, RANCID AMPUTATION, etc.) promises to resurrect the vibe of early SLAYER with an album called Catatonic Symphony. Lex Thunder (TOXIKULL and ex-MIDNIGHT PRIEST) is on guest vocals.

Poland-based HATE will release its next full-length Bellum Regiis through Metal Blade on May 2nd 2025. There is a video for the song Iphigenia.

MORGUE TERROR’s self-titled demo of January 2024 is followed by an upload called Terror In The Morgue. It again relates to the Terrifier movie. The band is booked for the CT Death Fest.

France-based DISFUNERAL has an album called In Horror, Reborn. It is available through Redefining Darkness Records at the end of April 2025.

USA-based UNMERCIFUL has an album, called Devouring Darkness, through Willowtip Records in May.

Belgium and Thailand-based YHWH, which features two sisters, has signed a deal with Wormholedeath and will issue a debut EP called Tetragrammaton on April 25th.

Embraced By Darkness, the debut full-length from Germany-based NAIL BY NAIL, will be released through War Anthem Records on May 09, 2025. NAIL BY NAIL features members of KRAANIUM and IMPERIUM DEKADENZ.

The Netherlands-based ANTROPOMORPHIA has an album, entitled Devoid Of Light, which will be out through Testimony Records on May 16, 2025. There is a video for the song Unending Hunt.

Rogga Johnasson again. Death metal band LEPER COLONY has a lyric video for the song Creature From The Deep. The track is taken from the band’s Those Of The Morbid album, which will be released through Testimony Records on April 11, 2025. LEPER COLONY features singer Marc Grewe (MORGOTH, INSIDIOUS DISEASE, etc.), guitarist and bassist Rogga Johansson (every second band), guitarist Håkan Stuvemark (WOMBBATH) and drummer Jon Rudin.

Italy-based death metal duo ENCELADO released a debut EP, entitled Pillars Of Creation, through Regenerate Records.

Doom/death band STRUCTURE has a full-length debut called Heritage through Ardua Music. The act features guitarist Bram Bijlhout of OFFICIUM TRISTE. Also on the album are vocalist Pim Blankenstein (OFFICIUM TRISTE), drums by Dirk Bruinenberg (ELEGY) and additional vocals from Robert Soeterboek (PLAN 9 and AYREON).

Rimouski, Canada-based VORTEX and France-based XAON have booked an eastern Canadian tour this coming April followed by European dates in October and November. The metalcore band with keyboards VORTEX has a concept demo called Alien Realms on April 11th, 2025.

Osaka, Japan-based SUBCONSCIOUS TERROR has an EP called Devoid Of Seraphim through Brutal Mind in May 2025. Two out of four songs are cover versions.

Black metal band ARAN ANGMAR’s full-length Ordo Diabolicum is available through Soulseller Records now.

Amor Fati Productions released The Eternal Flame Of Death, an EP by Germany-based black metal band NIGHTWALKER on March 21, 2025.

DRAGGED INTO SUNLIGHT has booked its first North American tour since 2016 for this May and June. Joining them as support will be MIZMOR and METH.

Finland-based RED MOON ARCHITECT has a new full-length called October Decay in April. It is out through Noble Demon. There is a video for the song First Of October.

Scene member Louise Girard (formerly of Sang Frais ‘zine) has penned a tome on the band ANONYMUS on the occasion of the act’s 35th anniversary in 2025. A book signing and a performance by the band was booked for Montreal, Canada for April 2nd and 3rd 2025.

After eight years without an album, THE HAUNTED returns with one on May 30th, 2025. It is called Songs Of Last Resort and available through Century Media.

Finland-based crossover act REFUSAL has signed a deal with Time To Kill Records for the release of its third album, Venomous Human Concept. The quintet was formed in Helsinki, Finland in early 2008.

Time To Kill Records has signed Brazilian/Dublin, Ireland-based groove band THE RISEN DREAD. The band has toured with VADER and played at Wacken in 2022. An album, called Death From Above, is due this year.

De Kronieken Van Het Verdwenen Kasteel – Iii – Grunsfoort is the name of a new digital single by The Netherlands-based post black metal act FLUISTERAARS. It will be issued by Eisenwald.

IN VAIN (Norway) vocalist Sindre Nedland died on March 2nd after a resurgence of cancer. He was 40 and left behind a partner and two children.

Greece-based thrash metal band SUICIDAL ANGELS and guitarist Gus Drax have gone their separate ways after almost ten years of working together. The musician will focus on his own band SUNBURST instead.

Poland-based death metal act TRAUMA has a compilation album with material that was recorded between 1988 and 1992 when the band was called THANATOS. TRAUMAtic Beginning was released with a live DVD through Selfmadegod Records on March 28, 2025.

DARK ANGEL has revealed Extinction-Level Event as the title for its comeback studio album during a concert at Uniclub in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The band is signed with Reversed Records.

Metal/metalcore band ECHOES OF THE EXTINCT has a debut album called Era Of Darkness, which will be available through Inverse Records in late April 2025.

Hungary-based power and thrash metal band OMEN has a record called Kell Az Ima through H-Music Hungary.

Folk/pagan band SKYFORGER has a video for the song Dieva Suns (God’s Dog), which is taken from an upcoming new album called Teikas (‘Folktales’). The song is based on an event from over 333 years ago in Latvia where a man confessed to being a werewolf.

MEGADETH has signed with Frontiers’ imprint BLKIIBLK for the release of its upcoming studio record in the coming autumn or winter.

Progressive djent band with keyboards SYMBIOTIC GROWTH has a demo called Beyond The Sleepless Aether.

Deathcore band THESE CURSED HANDS has a video for the song Perihelion, a track from the conceptual demo Intelligent (RE)Design.

Anniversaries/Evenings/Sets strike again! Announcing the An Evening With TESTAMENT Tour of the USA, the Bay Area thrash metal band TESTAMENT is commemorating the 35th anniversary of the Practice What You Preach album in support of the Practice What You Preach reissues through Nuclear Blast. There will be an acoustic set, storytelling and more. The band will also appear at Danny Wimmer Presents Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival and Welcome To Rockville. Punters can pay $170 and both meet and greet the band (does not include a concert ticket and the band will not sign any personal items).

Loud As Hell Open Air Festival has booked REVOCATION, FIRST FRAGMENT, FILTH, INSURRECTION, GORGATRON, OPAL IN SKY, GORE PIG and others for its 2025 edition. It will take place at Alberta’s Badlands in Drumheller, Canada between August 1st to 3rd.

A new band with the monicker BEHÖLDER has an album called In The Temple Of The Tyrant through Black Lion Records on 25 April 2025. The "epic doom/dark power metal" band evokes dungeons & dragons and was formed by guitarist Carlos Alvarez (SHADOWDANCE and ex-POWER THEORY) in late 2021. Guitarist Matt Hodsdon followed by drummer Andrew Julkowski, both from progressive metal band CHAOS FRAME, soon joined. As recording commenced in November 2023, bassist Michael “Oneirous” Sanchez (KING OV WORMS and EX-JUDICATOR) joined in early 2024.

Spain-based heavy metal group SAVAGED has a new album, which is called Rising, through No Remorse Records on 30.05.2025.

Sweden-based dark hard rock band SISTER has a single and video called The Way We Fall through Icons Creating Evil Art, which is the sister company of Despotz Records (and part of CMG Holding) . The band is appearing live and working on a full-length for this year. SISTER was founded in 2006 and had a release called Deadboys Making Noise in 2009.

Psychodrome is the name for the new album by Austria-based VENATOR. It is available through Dying Victims Productions.

Italy-based TRICK OR TREAT has a video for the song Bloodmoon, featuring guest vocalist Adrienne Cowan (SEVEN SPIRES). The song is taken from the Ghosted album, which is available through Scarlet Records on 25.04.2025.

Progressive group VISION DIVINE has been rejoined by singer Michele Luppi after an absence of 17 years. He replaces departed singer Ivan Giannini who left in 2024 and is typically in a dozen acts at the same time. The band is working on new music.

Osaka-based hard and heavy band 奏楽忍者隊Hanzo has a self-released compilation called Shinobish Steel to commemorate its 15th anniversary.

ROXXCALIBUR has an album called NWOBHM From The Vaults through Limb. It features a number of lesser known NWOBHM songs' cover versions.

High Roller Records will release, Walk The Shadows, by LORD VIGO in May. The band plays doom metal.

Heavy metal band THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG and Cruz Del Sur Music have announced the release of a new EP, entitled Traveller Supplement 1: The Ephemeral Glades, for April 11th 2025.

SETH METOYER known for his work in extreme metal and film scoring, issued House Of Echoes on March 21 2025. It is a single from his debut album, Through The Vanishing Point. It is issued by Broken Curfew Records and Rottweiler Records and described as hard rock and modern metal.

M-Theory Audio has signed heavy metal hard band FIRSTBORNE. The act features drummer Chris Adler. An album is slated for July 2025.

Italy-based HEADLESS has a video for the song Weightless, which is taken from the forthcoming album, Transitional Objects, which is to be released in late summer 2025.

STATEMENT's Sinister Thing album is out through Mighty Music on the 9th of May 2025. The hard rockers report the album to be heavier than past output.

WARRIOR SOUL will embark on a co-headlining UK tour with SPREAD EAGLE in August and September. Support act is UK-based rockers NEW GENERATION SUPERSTARS.

Yet another so-called "metal opera": keyboard-based fantasy band SIEGE PERILOUS has enlisted singers Fabio Lione (ANGRA and ex-RHAPSODY OF FIRE) and Kristin Starkey (TWILIGHT FORCE and TEMPERANCE) for its next demo Becoming The Dragon. To pay for the singers' services the band has returned to Kickstarter.

Yet another so-called "metal opera": MEMORIAS DE UN DESPERTAR has a release called Ira & Traición, which is described as a metal opera and an Andean battle between light and darkness. The multinational project, with members from Peru, Argentina, Chile, Spain, Mexico, Finland, Spain, Venezuela and Canada, is headed by Peruvian writer Marcel Verand. Each of the project's productions corresponds to the trilogy of books written and published by Marcel Verand.

ZEBRA is touring the USA for its 50th anniversary. Openers are alternately ANYTHING BUT HUMAN or MEANSTREAK.

TWISTED SISTER has sold its remaining recording copyrights, trademarks and other name, image and rights to Warner Music Group. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Former W.A.S.P. guitarist CHRIS HOLMES postponed the last date of his Canadian tour in Ottawa on March 30th due to an ice storm that made driving hazardous. The date is to be made up. TWISTED SISTA was supposed to open.

STRYPER is touring Latin America in July and August. It is the band's 40th anniversary.

Sweden-based hard rock act MOTHER MISERY has a single called The Predator. It was recorded during the same session as the band's previous release, From Shadow To Ghost, and features David 'DaKe' Isberg, known for BLOOD OF JUPITER and as a founding member of OPETH.

To coincide with the return of Donald J. Trump, Los Angeles, USA-based heavy metal act LIGHTNING STRIKES is recording the follow-up to the eponymous 2016 full-length debut. Founding member, drummer and producer, Karpis Maksudian, was working on The King Is Victorious which featured a re-tooled line-up, including Japanese guitarist, Shima Norifumi (CONCERTO MOON), nomad bassist Barry Sparks, Argentinian singer Mariano Gardella, as well as returning keyboardist Derek Sherinian. In addition, Maksudian has worked with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra on the album's title track.

Nordic Noise 2025 will take place in Denmark on May 9 and 10, 2025. ARDENNERY has replaced BLITZKRIEG, which withdrew due to line-up changes in its ranks. The Denmark-based progressive band ONLY HUMAN also has replaced Sweden-based TOXICROSE. ARDENNERY's Break The Oath is a live show featuring Michael Denner of MERCYFUL FATE and members of ARTILLERY performing material from the first three MERCYFUL FATE releases, Don’t Break The Oath, Melissa and the debut EP. ARTILLERY will perform based on the 40th anniversary of Fear Of Tomorrow. Other bands appearing are WOLF, TYKETTO, MANTICORA, STEEL INFERNO and STARGAZER.

Armstrong Metalfest has unveiled its 2025 Lineup with BORN OF OSIRIS, STORTREGN, VOLT, THE CADAVOR DOG, NAITAKA, HAVOK, GLYPH, RIOT CITY, THE BROWNING, VIRVUM and more. The event features camping facilities and takes place in Armstrong, BC, Canada between July 11 and 12, 2025.
