History & Biography The Los Angeles, California, USA-based heavy metal band was founded in 1996. Foray and Brown had met as teenagers at Catholic school. Early drummer was Tony Chlup. He left in 2003. A self-titled demo appeared in 2000. This was already targeted for two years earlier, but those sessions were cancelled when the act fired its singer and had Brown add the microphone to his guitar duty. A follow-up demo, called The Power Of One, only appeared in 2008. Drummer Dave Davis joined right after this release. The band’s year-end gig for 2010 was first postponed and then cancelled. Dave Davis, who was suffering from a back injury, in 2011 was replaced by Jim Standerfer for scheduled concerts. The new drummer would eventually replace Davis for a year in 2016 and 2017. Guitarist and solo artist Andy J., in the meantime, joined in late 2012 for a concert with UFO giving the band a dual-guitar sound. He would remain with the band for less than a year. Ninth Circle announced the Ranjit Clarke benefit show for 2013. Ranjit was a friend and fan and needed a kidney. Again a trio, the band started 2014 opening for Uli Jon Roth at NAMM.
Pure Rock Records released Legions Of The Brave in 2014. The band conducted the Make America Metal Tour. Jim Standerfer left and was replaced by the man he had replaced, namely Dave Davis. Then Davis left in 2019. Richie Brooks became the drummer in 2019, but it was Davis who was heard on the 2020 record. Jeff Prentice of the band Predator was collaborating with bassist Frank Forray of Ninth Circle, a band he had produced previously, in 2020.
Ninth Circle had the digital rerelease of the Legions Of The Brave (2014) and Echo Black (2020) through its own Ninthcircleworld Records in 2020. They were issued by Pure Steel Records originally. The band returned to live work in 2022 and announced a ‘best of’ tour. The band began recording a new album in 2022. Dave Davis died in November 2022. The act rereleased its two Pure Steel records through its own Ninthcircleworld Records digitally in 2024. Riot’s Warrior, which featured contributions from guitarist Mike Flyntz and vocalist Todd Michael Hall, was a bonus cut.
