History & Biography
The Northwest Territories, Canada-based hard rock band was founded in 1984 and issued a record courtesy of Canadian broadcaster CBC in 1986. ᓯᓈᒃᑐᖅ was recorded in Ottawa in 1985. The lyrics were in Inuktitut. The act appeared at the 1986 Expo in Vancouver. The band was not really active, but officially disbanded when Kolitalik Inukshuk was murdered and Elijah Kunnuk died of cancer in 2007. A compilation, with three new songs, called ᓯᓈᒃᑐᖅ appeared in 2012.

Even bands (now in Nunavut) near the north pole are not immune to the cliches of the scene and Northern Haze reformed in 2017. A local label issued the band’s music. The record title was ‘Return of The Sun.’ The act now had a keyboard man. In the new line-up was Allan who is James’ nephew. Aqqiaruq is his estranged son who also stepped in for his father when the latter was ill and could not show up for the band. The band played several concerts in 2019.
