History & Biography
Active since 2006, the man/band had a demo called The Decaying Despot in 2007. Someone called The Flenser released a record for the man in 2009. He repeated the deed a year later. A couple of splits later the man issued an odds and ends compilation called Misc. And Unreleased that sought to answer the question, ‘Could a woman be a B cup and a C cup simultaneously?’ The earlier split with Botanist was an obvious one as Balan was in both acts. He would depart Botanist, an experimental act, in 2016. The band briefly contemplated becoming an actual group and performing live. Drummer Chad Gailey of Vastum was involved. It did not work out and the personalities did not get along. More split releases and a 2020 demo, entitled Through The Dark Arches, came next.

USA-based solo act Palace Of Worms had an album, entitled Cabal, through Acephale Winter Productions in February 2023. There were half a dozen musical contributors not to mention the whole thing was crowdfunded. The man announced Cabal to be his final full-length owing to the pressures and constraints of life.

As is not unusual, the band started as a pure black metal entity and gravitated towards milder and commercial sounds with age. The monicker was inspired by folk rock band Sol Invictus’ song A Palace of Worms from the 1990s.
