History & Biography
Paramæcium was born by then-Christian Tompkins in Melbourne, Australia in 1990 and established a pop/doom sound for itself after its death metal start. Silent Carnage and Live Carnage demos came next. Exhumed Of The Earth was a demo before becoming an album. The lyrics spoke of the life and times of Jesus Christ. Sherlock left in 1996, but briefly returned in 2006. Andrew Tompkins was writing a book called Within The Ancient Forest and based the 1996 album on it. A further demo was 1999’s A Time To Mourn. The group changed its monicker in 2006. Paramæcium had a final show in Oslo, Norway in November 2006. Tompkins left Christ and became an atheist.

Paramaecium is a single-cell microscopic organism.
