History & Biography
Demo 2005 was Posthum’s first release and came a year after the band’s founding by Jon and Morten. Folter Records released the band’s self-titled album in the spring of 2009. The group toured with Satyricon and Shining. There was a dot in front of the album’s name to signify a new beginning. The band was called black metal, but featured a violin on one track. Many called the band post black metal. The next album was out three years later. The line-up had remained stable and the band played shows with Solstafir and Dunderbiest. A new guitarist was heard on The Black Northern Ritual, which may have been referring to Norway’s gushing oil. It was recorded by Morten Opsahl Thomassen who worked on the band’s 2012 Lights Out album. It was mixed by George Tanderø and mastered by Peter In De Betou. The band played at the Inferno festival in 2019.
