SARISSA - MASTERS OF SIN - BLACK LOTUS
Sarissa is a veteran Greek band which has now reformed and reappeared on the scene with Masters Of Sin. The band strives to be both a pomp rock band a progressive metal band and while it succeeds at both there is one problem here. While the individual members are capable, the sound is good and the instruments are well-produced, the entire production does not come together. In the case of Sarissa the sum is less than the combined parts. Apparently, a number of good parts and elements do not automatically add up to an admirable whole. Vocalist Iglezos hits a few impressive notes and the band even incorporates a blast beat on album closer Hypocrisy Crusade (how appropriate!), but this is not an album that will receive the endorsement of Metallian Towers. - Ali "The Metallian"
